Creating a League
When creation a Competition, a Competition Format is selected: choose ‘League’.
After saving (publishing) the Competition, additional League specific (competition) data can be entered, as is highlighted below.
- League size
The number of Competitors in this Competition
- Number of matches vs. each competitor
In Leagues where a Competitor has a home-match and an away-match versus each Competitor, enter ‘2’. Enter ‘1’ if each Competitor plays the other Competitors only once. (Larger number, for example ‘4’ or ’12’, are fine too.)
This parameter and the League size determine how many Matches are (automatically) created when saving this Competition.
- Scoring system
The scoring system determines how the Ranking is computed. The following options are available:
- Points Won
In the ranking, the points total for both Competitors of a Match is incremented as follows: if the Match result is 5-2, the home Competitor adds 5 points to its total and the away Competitor adds 2 points to its total.
- Win-Draw-Loss = 3-1-0
The winner of a Match adds 3 points to its points total and the loser of that a Match get nothing. In case of a draw, each Competitor adds 1 point to its points total.
- Win-Draw-Loss = 2-1-0
The winner of a Match adds 2 points to its points total and the loser of that a Match get nothing. In case of a draw, each Competitor adds 1 point to its points total.
- Points Won
After saving these League specific data parameters, neither the ‘League size’ parameter nor the ‘Number of matches vs. each competitor’ parameter can be updated anymore.
The rationale is that (many) Competitors and Matches have been automatically created based on these parameters. (If you want to redefine these parameters anyway, it is recommended to delete the Competitors and Matches for this League first, select Competition Format “none”, save and select the League format again.) Notice that the other parameters (like scoring system or competition group) can still be updated.
League specific Competitor data
When updating a League’s Competitor, there is one field that is specific to a League.
When selecting ‘Disable Ranking’, the Competitor will not be displayed when the League’s ranking is displayed on your site (the frontend).
In the backend (only), the ranking displays Competitors for which this option has been selected in strikethrough format.
